Notes for authors

The Journal of Jewish Studies welcomes submission of articles making a fresh and original contribution to Jewish studies from the biblical to the modern era.

All articles are externally peer-reviewed and meet high-quality publication standards. The editors will consider for publication articles, review articles or longer critical discussions of important books. Pre-doctoral students are not encouraged to submit.

Contributors should submit to jjsedi@ochjs.ac.uk

  • full author’s details including name, title, ORCID, email and postal addresses to the editors
  • the article in both Word and PDF formats
  • the article should not exceed 10,000 words, including footnotes and bibliography
  • pages should be numbered
  • an abstract of no more than 150 words (the abstract should succinctly summarise the contents of the article and its main argument with attention to key concept and key words)
  • illustrations, if any, to be submitted in jpeg or tiff format, of around 600 dpi density together with permission for reproduction
  • all submissions are required to adhere to the Style guide, Abbreviations guide and Transliteration guide.

Editorial and production assistance is available to contributors at the editors’ discretion.

Authors receive two copies of the issue containing their contribution and an electronic e-print of the article. No fee is offered. Reviewers of books receive a copy of the issue containing their review.
